MotifLab Quick Reference Sheet

Visualization Panel

In order to use short-cut keys in the Visualization Panel, you first need to select a target sequence which will receive focus. To select a sequence, simply point the mouse anywhere within the sequence track window or on the sequence label. The sequence which currently has focus will be marked with a yellow wedge in front of its name.

* Actions marked with an asterisk can be applied to all sequences simultaneously by holding down the ALT-key in addition to the given key combination
§ Actions affecting alignment will always be applied to all sequences
To show sequences that have been hidden, right-click on a Sequence Collection in the Data Objects panel and select 'Show sequences'


Features Panel

First select the feature you want to control by clicking on it with the mouse.
Multiple features can be selected simultaneously by holding down the SHIFT or CONTROL keys while selecting.

F Change "gradient fill" (for DNA and Region Datasets)
W Toggle "drop shadows" (for Region Datasets)
X or E Expand/contract track (for Region Datasets)
Delete Delete feature track
+ * Increase track size of selected features

To change the order of feature tracks, simply select the ones you want to move
with the mouse and drag them up or down to a new position
* These actions can also be controlled using the mouse-wheel instead of the +/– keys


Motifs Panel

Data Tables

The following keyboard short-cuts can be used wherever tables of data objects (sequences, motifs, modules or region types) are shown, for instance in the Motif Browser or in dialogs showing Collections, Partitions, Numeric Maps or Analyses. The "visibility" of the entries refers to their visibility in the Visualization Panel and not their appearence in the table itself.
