A resource for Human, Mouse and Rat Transcription Factors. The Transcription Factors in TFcheckpoint are manually checked for experimental evidence supporting their role in 1) regulation of RNA polymerase II and 2) specific DNA binding activity. TFs supported by such evidence are marked as DbTF.

Together with GO consortium members we recently published a paper describing the development of detailed curation guidelines (Link to paper) for the annotation of DbTFs. These guidelines are also available here. Currently we are reviewing all annotations again with these more stringent criteria to assert specific DNA binding transcription regulatory activity of TFs. We will update the content of TFcheckpoint as we progress with this task, and mark these re-checked DbTFs with a * in the DbTF column.
