System requirements

1. A computer with at least 4Gb RAM and 10Gb free disk space
2. JAVA 1.7 or later (JDK 7 or later)
3. A Gmail account (https://accounts.google.com/SignUp?service=mail)

Hardware requirements varies with scale of the systems. To manage more records you would require more memory, disk space and processing power. On average a machine with more than 4Gb of RAM and 10Gb free hard drive space is sufficient for average use.

At the moment EGDMS works only on Unix based operating systems. Ubuntu 12.04 or later is recommended.

Java development kit 1.7 or later is a must. You would require the full JDK (not just the virtual machine or the JRE). Earlier JAVA versions may not work with the system. This is mainly due to the reliance of the system on improved file handling and file copying methods introduced in Java 1.7.
Check JAVA version - java -version.
How to install JDK on linux - http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/webnotes/install/linux/linux-jdk.html
How to install JDK on Ubuntu- http://www.webupd8.org/2012/01/install-oracle-java-jdk-7-in-ubuntu-via.html. As you would see in this link issuing following commands on Ubuntu will install a updatable version of Oracle JDK.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-installer

A Google account. The EGDMS uses Gmail to send mails and activation codes. Therefore, you need an account with Google and needs the user name and the password to start the installation. Other email service could be used if you provide the following information in the config.txt file.
 --fromaddress=
--mailuser=
--mailhost=
mail.smtp.password=
mail.smtp.auth=
mail.smtp.socketFactory.fallback=
mail.smtp.port=
mail.smtp.socketFactory.port=

Installation
1. Download the installation package and uncompress it.
    A. <Link to package>
    B. Uncompress: tar xvfz egenvar.tar.gz
2. Create a config file or find the default file. A sample config file is provided in the config directory.

3. Run the start.sh file in the egenvar directory (the directory after uncompressing). The config file is assumed to be the default found in the config directory.
    sh ./start.sh

Please refer the egenvar_admin_manual.pdf provided with the package or from <Download_link> for more details on server and intalation. For details on clients, please refer Command_line_Tutorial.pdf and WEB_Tutorial.pdf.
